This is the website of an independent 3D animator, and film producer, whose main project
is called 'COG'. Over the coming months I will post images,
movies, explanations and tutorials about all Cogfilms productions.
My ageing hero's will take you to the beginning of creation,
the 4th dimension, and through to love and retirement. ...... and
hopefully make you laugh.
The projects are being produced in Blender, the OPEN SOURCE & FREE
3D creation suite, developed by Ton Roosendaal et al.
UPDATE
- 2009
Well what happed to 2009?
I am sure that it occurred at some point but it all seems a misty rush now. In truth I was getting used to being retired and found out that you are busier in this part of ones life than had been predicted.
My absence from this website, and lack of progress on my Blender projects, was as a result of moving and setting up a house, making new friends, and learning new things.

Oil painting has been one new area explored during 2009.
I had wanted to re-explore this painting method since my days in art school back in the 70's.
Re-learning, anatomy, colour theory, composition and many other principles of portraiture and figure drawing would also come in handy for my future Blender projects.
Oh yes and I also had an operation on my wrist that took me away from Blender for several months. How apt that one of my studies is of a wrist from a larger piece by Jenny Saville that I painted while recovering.
But that's not to say that I have been completely Blender less. Over the year I have been exploring the new Blender 2.5 interface. Learning what new things can be achieved that were either not possible before or have become much more versatile in this latest Blender development.
Amending many of my previous exercises and creating new ones to show how you can achieve spectacular renders and animations using the ever impressive Blender suite. During 2010 there are to be some exciting developments. So keep watching Cog has not disappeared.
The film is dedicated to my great friend Roger Finch who tragically died in 2003. Roger was an inspiration to many non-professional film makers encouraging them to dream, persevere, and achieve the impossible. |
